How to export your passwords from Dashlane

If you keep most of your logins in Dashlane, the easiest way to get them into Life Box is to export a CSV file and then upload it in the Accounts section. This guide walks you through the export step using the Dashlane web app.

What you get when you export

Dashlane downloads a ZIP file to your computer. Inside that ZIP you will find several CSV files. The one you want for Life Box is usually named credentials.csv and contains your logins, passwords, website addresses, and any notes you saved with each login.

Before you start

• Use the Dashlane web app in Chrome, Firefox, Edge, or another modern browser.
• Have your master password ready, or make sure biometrics or your PIN will unlock the export.
• Plan to delete the ZIP and CSV files as soon as you have imported them into Life Box. A plain CSV file is not encrypted, so treat it like a printed list of every password.

Export your passwords from the Dashlane web app

1. 1Open the Dashlane web app in your browser and sign in.
2. 2Click the Vault menu in the top left, then choose Settings.
3. 3In the Settings panel, select Export data.
4. 4When prompted, enter your master password, use Face ID or Touch ID, or enter your PIN, then select Unlock.
5. 5Choose Export to CSV.
6. 6If you use Dashlane through work and see a message about Smart Space Management, move any personal items to your Personal Space first, or choose Continue to export only personal items.
7. 7Dashlane saves a ZIP file to your Downloads folder. Open the ZIP and look for credentials.csv.

What is included — and what is not

• Included: website URLs, usernames, passwords, and the full note attached to each login.
• Included: an otpSecret column with 2FA setup codes, if you have two-factor authentication turned on for a login. This is the setup code, not the temporary token.
• Not included: passkeys. Passkeys cannot be exported in a CSV file.
• Not included: attachments from Secure Notes. Download those separately if you need them.
• Not included: items shared with you using the Can autofill permission. Only items you own will export.

Import the CSV into Life Box

1. 1Sign in to Life Box and go to the Accounts section.
2. 2Select Import from password manager and choose Dashlane.
3. 3Upload credentials.csv.
4. 4Review the column mapping. Life Box will match website, username, password, and notes fields automatically.
5. 5Check the preview for duplicates or missing fields, then import the accounts you want to keep.
6. 6Life Box encrypts each password and stores it in your vault.

Clean up the export file

Once the import is complete, delete the ZIP file and the extracted CSV from your Downloads folder and empty your trash. If you need a backup, store it on a removable drive or USB stick kept in a secure place rather than leaving it on your computer.
